When we had the field open in 2020 as part of the village table top sale we raised a lot of money through homemade jams and chutneys. So we had another go in 2021.
We ordered some pretty jars and labels that were donated to the cause to give the produce some style, and got cooking! 4kg of jostaberries (a gooseberry/ blackcurrant cross) from the site were made into jam, and surplus runner beans from Caroline and Robert's veg growing customers were made into a chutney akin to piccalilli. These were offered for sale at the garden gate in Mill Lane (lots of passing dog walkers) and also to Jenny and Richard's Airbnb guests. So far over £150 has been raised, and there is still a few jars left if anyone is interested.
If we get a good fruit crop this year on the improved orchard trees we will have another go this year.
