Annual General Meeting of Coxley Community Land Trust - Coxley Holt 7pm in Coxley church

Please read the Full Report of General Meeting (Thursday 3rd March) so you are up to speed on the background to the AGM. (supply link….) There’s much more there than was in the short summary delivered to every household a fortnight or so ago.

Please find the Agenda for the AGM of Coxley Community Land Trust at https://coxleyholt.wixsite.com/website/schedule/coxley-community-land-trust-agm. The meeting will be held in the church this time, as it is a community space available for hire at a friendly rate, and often more available than the Memorial Hall.

There are some formalities to be observed, and after that we will have a more informal group discussion as we did at the last meeting on 3rd March.

Members needed now

It is vital that we have a reasonable pool of committed Members for this meeting and going forward - just the three Founder Members has been alright, (if lonely and hard work), up till now, but to make progress from here onwards we need a good team of clued up, responsible, enthusiastic colleagues to share the load. We can’t carry on on our own and it wouldn’t be right. Quorum is only 3 Members according to the Rules we have been given (see link to website), but it wouldn’t look very hopeful for a

Community project if we can only mobilise three people at the AGM in a village of about 450 households (nearly double that on the Electoral Roll). We are hoping for at least as many people on 29th as attended on 3rd March (over 50).

On the other hand if the enthusiasm and will to commit is not there at the moment, then maybe it’s just not the right time for a “hub” in Coxley and we put it on the back burner for a few years, for others to pick up again in due course. In the meantime villagers could just enjoy the field as a green space, once it has been made safe for general public access. But those are decisions for Members at the meeting.

Have you signed up?

So if you have already signed up and paid your £5, we hope to see you on 29th. If you are thinking of signing up, please do so by midnight on Monday 24th (ie fill in the form attached and pay your £5, online or by posting the forms and a cheque as directed on the form) in order that we can fulfil Clause 14 of the Rules by which we are governed (supply link…) You will note from the notes of the 3rd March meeting ( supply link..) that it was agreed at that meeting that Members must live within the bounds of the Parish Council.

Several people took forms away with them on 3rd March but have not returned them yet. If that is a question of just not getting round to it, we hope you will now download the improved form and do the honours with that instead. People who have filled in the earlier version of the form, fear not, your application is perfectly valid - you are Members.

Time of meetings wrong for you? Got questions or info?

We realise that 7pm is not a good time for everyone. If you would have liked to be present at this meeting but cannot be, please let us know, and e-mail us with any questions or information you may have. We will consider holding future meetings at a different time of day if people ask for that. So far nobody has.

Working Party on the field - Saturday 23rd April 10.30 -12 noon

Some quite heavy work needs to be done moving the brash into the framework we built last weekend to construct a “dead hedge”. This a way of making a sight or access barrier out of tree and hedge prunings, which can also provide habitat for all sorts of wildlife. If you want to come and help you must wear stout shoes, as the ground is very uneven full of trip hazards and thorns still, bring tough gloves and your own tools (loppers or secateurs, but bill hooks better) if you feel comfortable using them - this would be entirely at your own risk. This is not a suitable project for children.
